On March 19, 2025, PhD students from AgroBioTech and representatives of the Young Staff of IBPRS-PIB had the opportunity to visit Polmos Żyrardów, the producer of the luxury vodka Belvedere.
During the visit, participants attended an inspiring lecture by Mr. Łukasz Ściubak, Head of the Energy Department, on energy self-sufficiency and emission neutrality at the distillery. This fascinating presentation provided insights into the distillery’s innovative approach to sustainable production and ecological solutions.
In addition to the theoretical part, attendees had the unique chance to explore the production process on the technological line, including biomass combustion technology, waste heat utilization, and the rectification process. Thanks to the hospitality of the company’s employees, participants gained firsthand knowledge of modern technological solutions that enable energy self-sufficiency and efficient water and wastewater management at the plant.
